Have you seen this – Museums are now going interactive ‘after dark’. You can tour the darkened gallery in the dead of night without leaving your house. The ‘After Dark’ live events allow virtual visitors to control one of four camera-clad robots or to join a tour already controlled by another user. Each robot will be fitted with a torch that illuminates artworks one at a time, lending a Scooby Doo air to your artistic discoveries. More details here

If you would prefer to sit back and take it all in without the crowds, you can now see Great Art On Screen. A new series of cinema events brings the world’s greatest art exhibitions to the screen. Great Art On Screen will feature the world’s foremost upcoming art exhibitions, creatively captured live especially for the big screen – Matisse, Rembrandt, Girl with a Pearl Earring, Vincent van Gogh and The Impressionists.

This That Whatever – Lifestyle/Art

I am going to be taking a bit of a break from the blog. The reason being, one, I have had a slight problem with my computer, and need to get that back up and running smoothly, as it has been quite a burdon of late. Secondly, I have joined a gym (the first time in my life), which I am committed to following thru with for the next 6 months.

I am sure I could continue on as is with everything, but I would like to take a break anyway, ideally to get some creative juices flowing and switch things up and around a bit, coming back with renewed enthusiasm.

In case you were wondering, I have been blogging every day for nearly 3 years without a break. Thankfully, I have my blog to remind me of those years, cause seriously it has gone so fast I can’t quite believe it.

So on that note, here are two lovely pictures to gaze at and admire during this break. I will see you back here in July.

Still – a captivating name for a blog …and I totally love the idea, especially this image. Certainly if you took the minute to appreciate just the simple things, it can make a difference.

The next few images, have also been given a new appreciation.

Obviously things change, because one time it is there and the other not. So I found Gallery Aloft and really like the exhibit it had showing. Alas the gallery is not longer there. But I did manage to find the artist that caught my eye. So am booking marking Suey McEnnally for “someday”.

Or then this is this artist…

The dreaded pine rooms. What do you do with them to make them look modern and a little more fresh? I like this version – add cool artwork with bold colours.

You could possible include a few of these pieces to the rooms above as well.

I made a day trip to Canberra with a few of my friends to see the Toulouse-Lautrec exhibit. One of my friends had flown back from a holiday in Italy (38 hours including transfers – then added a 3hr car trip to Canberra and a 1hr plane trip to Melbourne – legendary!), and another friend had driven in from Cootamundra. Thank you so much girls for a great day!

I love the painters from the Post-Impressionist era as well as the Impressionists (blogged here). It was a Saturday and very busy, almost 4 people deep, which was a little disappointing, but it was amazing to see these paintings right in front of you and just how truly beautiful they are.

But now I am totally jealous looking at the new Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art mentioned here.

Forget the car trip….anyone for a plane trip to NY?
